A Side Kick* Wasting T Connection Device is required by many Health Codes.

 COMMON PUBLIC WORKS POLICY
Chemical Dispensers that are connected to a faucet must include a “sidekick” pressure bleeding device on the faucet outlet. This would include wasting tee, flow-through device, or otherwise known as a ‘sidekick’ device. A wye connector that has an integral shut off valve can not be connected to a faucet that has an integral atmospheric vacuum breaker. The Inspector will verify that: • The chemical dispenser is equipped with an air gap fitting or is ASSE 1015 listed, and • The existing Atmospheric Vacuum Breaker is still functional, and • The hose between the faucet and chemical dispenser is approved material, and • Installation includes a ‘sidekick’ Pressure Bleeding Device, and • ‘Sidekick’ device does not contain an outlet valve and the flow-through screen (if installed) is not plugged.
If the Inspector should find a violation, the following action may take place: • Initial violation will be cited with a thirty (30) day compliance deadline and a follow-up inspection will be required. • Additional or repeat violations shall be handled on a case by case basis and may include the requirement for the installation of a dedicated water supply that terminates with other than a hose thread, i.e. an ASSE 1055 Type A dispenser may be required.
